Sender ID and Windows Live Mail

Following the mystery surrounding the rejection of emails coming from our hosted clients, i took a look at windows live mail policy. The error message stated that the mail was returned due to “policy restrictions”.

It was then that i learned that Microsoft was now using Sender ID framework to block out spam. http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/safety/content/technologies/senderid/wizard/ is the link to the sender ID wizard that will help you create the needed entries in your DNS for enabling Sender ID.

ISPs can now subscribe to live mail to find out which of their IPs are ‘spamming’. This will greatly aid in our isolation and troubleshooting process. https://postmaster.live.com/snds/data.aspx
