I tried to do transaction replication on the 2 sql2005 databases. I failed miserably in this attempt. I think its because i did not use active directory. So there wasnt a domain level account to use on both machines.

I will try tomorrow and this time, i will join the 2 sql 2005 to a domain, so that i will have a domain level user account to use.

I had also tried Database mirroring, but was discouraged because of 2 reasons: It was still in beta (and Microsoft specifically states that DB mirroring should not yet be used on a production capacity), and i had problems with a scenario where the principal db failed, and i had to manually start the mirror. (I did not have a witness server, you see…)
