Review: Project 2007 Books
I had two books checked out from the National Library. One was The Microsoft Office Project 2007 Survival Guide, and the other was the Microsoft Project 2007:The Missing Manual.
Both books will help individuals get started and learn the complexities of Microsoft Project 2007. Survival Guide is more suited for individuals that want to learn the nuts and bolts of Microsoft Project 2007, while The Missing Manual is for individuals that want to learn not only Microsoft Project, but also how the PMI project process maps to the Microsoft Project 2007 tasks.
However, none of the two books provided discussion on the topic of online collaboration that will leverage the Project Server 2007 sharepoint-like web interface. For example, updating of tasks is still done by the project administration, while in the Project Server environment, the user is allowed web access to the /pwa URL and the user can be the one to update the tasks assigned to them. There is also a ‘request task updates’ that will generate a ‘ticket’ to ask users to update their tasks.
Despite this shortcoming, I would still highly recommend both for the depth of knowledge that it provides!
