Matthew Sturgess, Limelight
I had the great fortune of being able to sit down over lunch and talk to Mr Matthew Sturgess of Limelight. Limelight is a CDN (Content Delivery Network) that serves popular sites like Youtube, realnetworks and Amazon videos.
As I am also preparing for my 5 minute presentation for iBlog Summit on Podcasting Trends, I took advantage and asked Matthew about what his takes were from his vantage point.
Some key takeaways are that according to Jerry Yang of Yahoo, by the end of the decade video content will comprise 90% of the web traffic. Furthermore, Matthew also shared with me the experience of ABC (Disney) channel in the US, and about how revenues were increased by making their content freely available on the web. We also discussed how podcast are helping content providers extend their networks to listeners in other time zones!
